Roll-off dumpster rental in Springfield
The yard is inside the city — 660 S Glenstone Ave in the 65802 ZIP. Glenstone Avenue was part of the old Route 66 path across Springfield, by the City's own Route 66 page.
Springfield is where the trucks start every morning. The yard at 660 S Glenstone Ave is inside city limits, so there is no long haul to plan around — a call before noon is usually a container the same day anywhere in town.
It is a big city to cover — 169,847 people by the Census Bureau's July 2025 estimate (169,176 at the 2020 Census). The City does not run trash pickup; households choose from more than 10 private licensed haulers. And the City Code's container rules leave bulky rubbish, yard waste and demolition and construction waste out of the cart system altogether (Sec. 94-72). A kitchen, a roof or a clear-out is roll-off work.
Local knowledge
Getting our bearings in Springfield
Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.
- No City trash service — curbside trash and recycling comes from "more than 10 private, independent licensed trash hauling companies," and City Council has voted to keep it that way.
- Birthplace of Route 66 — by the City's account, U.S. 66 was first proposed as the name on April 30, 1926, by telegram from the Colonial Hotel. The old route ran across town from Kearney to Glenstone to St. Louis Street.
- Noble Hill Sanitary Landfill — the City-owned landfill at 3545 W. Farm Road 34, Willard. Monday to Friday 7 am to 4 pm, Saturday 7 am to 3 pm; $43.85 a ton with a $20 minimum for household, construction and demolition waste and clean fill.
- Yardwaste Recycling Center at 3790 S. Farm Road 119, Brookline — Tuesday to Saturday, 8 am to 5 pm. Grass and leaves free; brush $11 to $38 a load. Limbs over 10 inches and root balls go to the landfill instead.
- Household Chemical Collection Center at 1226 W. Nichols St — by appointment on 417-864-2000, for residents of Greene, Christian, Polk, Dallas and Webster counties. Oil-based paint, pesticides, cleaners and automotive products go there, never in a roll-off.

What comes out of Springfield properties
Kitchens, baths, flooring and roofs in 15s and 20s, whole-house cleanouts in 20s and 30s, teardowns in 30s and 40s, and a 10 for concrete, brick and dirt. Your weekly trash hauler is not set up for a gutted kitchen, and the City's container rules leave construction debris out of the cart system anyway.
Missouri law decides what stays out of the container: fridges, freezers, A/C units, washers, dryers, water heaters and stoves, car batteries and used oil (all banned from landfills since 1991), whole tires, and yard waste — leaves, grass clippings and garden vegetation, banned since 1992. Noble Hill also turns away asbestos, liquids and hazardous waste. Drywall, shingles, wood, concrete and brick are fine, and clean concrete, brick, rock and dirt count as clean fill under state law. Tell us before brush or yard waste goes in.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Springfield
Who may haul — the rule that matters: Springfield City Code Sec. 94-7 says no one may run a business hauling or collecting solid waste in the city without a licence from the Director of Environmental Services, issued yearly — and the Code's definition of solid waste includes demolition and construction wastes. The licence carries insurance minimums and vehicle standards, and Sec. 94-8 requires every truck to show the business name, address, phone number, tare weight and a current City sticker. The fee is not published; Environmental Services (417-864-1905) sets it. We hold ours.
On your driveway: we found no City rule written for a roll-off on private property. That is the simple place for it.
In the street: Sec. 98-1 bans any obstruction in the public way that hinders traffic or blocks drainage. The City has right-of-way and encroachment permits, but no page we found says which one a dumpster needs or what it costs. Call Traffic Operations on 417-864-1980 before anything goes in the street.
Knocking something down: a Wrecking Permit is $151 residential or $171 commercial (fees effective July 1, 2025), from Building Development Services (417-864-1585). Utilities are retired and the sewer capped first, and an asbestos inspection by a Missouri-certified inspector is required. In a local historic district you need a Certificate of Appropriateness from Planning before going further. Anything other than a single house of up to four units also needs a state demolition notice to Missouri DNR 10 working days ahead, $120. Asbestos debris is not allowed at the City landfill.
Outside the city, in unincorporated Greene County: a County demolition permit needs a $500 cash bond, and you only get it back with a receipt from a licensed disposal facility showing where the debris went. Greene County Building Regulations is on (417) 868-4015.
Summarized from the city's published code and web pages as read in October 2026. Codes change — confirm with the department listed before you rely on it.
How it works
Booking a dumpster in Springfield
Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.
- 1
Call and tell us the job
One short conversation. We ask what you are clearing, where the container needs to sit, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us. No long forms, no guesswork.
- 2
We size it and quote it flat
You get one number covering delivery, the standard rental of up to 7 days, pickup, disposal and a stated weight allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.
- 3
Delivered where you want it
The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site exactly where you asked, with boards under it if you want them. Often same-day or next-day, depending on availability.
- 4
Load at your own pace
Keep it level with the top edge and keep the banned items out — tires, car batteries, used oil, paint, chemicals, propane tanks, and fridges, washers, water heaters and other major appliances. Need a swap mid-job or an early pickup? One call or text and we are on it.
- 5
We haul it and dispose of it right
The load goes to a permitted landfill or processing facility, with metal, concrete and clean green waste recycled whenever possible. You get your driveway back the way you left it.

How fast can you deliver in Springfield?
Call (417) 720-8150 before noon and it is usually on your driveway the same day. The yard is on Glenstone Avenue, inside the city.
Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Springfield?
Not that we found for a driveway. For the street, the City bans obstructions that hinder traffic or drainage and has not published a dumpster permit — call Traffic Operations (417-864-1980) first.
Does Springfield license dumpster haulers?
Yes. City Code Sec. 94-7 needs a yearly City licence to haul solid waste, construction and demolition debris included. We hold ours.
Where do paint and chemicals go?
Not in the roll-off. The Household Chemical Collection Center at 1226 W. Nichols St takes oil-based paint, pesticides, cleaners and automotive products by appointment — call 417-864-2000.

Every town we cover
We run roll-off containers out of the Glenstone Avenue yard to every town below. Springfield and the closest towns are often same-day; the edges of the area are more often next-day. Most of the towns we checked license or permit the haulers that work inside their limits, and a few keep containers off the street — each page says so plainly. If your town is not listed, call anyway.
