Yard Waste Dumpster Rental across the Springfield metro and the 417
Yards here make debris in bursts. A storm comes through and limbs are down; a landscaping redo pulls out beds, shrubs and mulch all at once; fall cleanup fills bag after bag. Weekly trash is not built for it, and the drop-off sites have limits: Springfield's Yardwaste Recycling Center in Brookline is open Tuesday to Saturday, 8 to 5, takes limbs no longer than 10 feet and no thicker than 10 inches, and will not take lawn bags, dirt or root balls; Republic's brush site opens on the first Saturday morning of the month and the Friday afternoon before it, for residents only, with nothing over 6 inches across. A container on the driveway takes all of it, the week it happens.
One Missouri rule shapes the whole job: yard waste — leaves, grass clippings, yard and garden vegetation and Christmas trees — has been banned from Missouri landfills since January 1, 1992. Clean green waste goes to composting instead, so keep it clean — bagged household trash, lumber or plastic mixed in turns it into a load nobody wants. Stumps, roots and shrubs with intact root balls fall outside the state definition, and the City sends root balls and limbs over 10 inches to the landfill. And yard waste is bulky and light until it is not: soil, wet leaves and stumps are heavy. We size for the mix.

Storm cleanup, tree work and landscape redos
Storm cleanup is the big one. Wind takes out limbs and fences across whole neighborhoods at once, and the town programs cannot keep up: Ozark wants brush in bundles of limbs under 4 inches across, no longer than 48 inches and no heavier than 75 pounds; Nixa leaves brush and limbs off its curbside list; Bolivar's City brush sites are for residents' own debris and turn away contractors and anyone hired to haul it. After the June 29, 2025 storm, Ozark opened a temporary yard-debris drop-off from July 1 to 15. A 20 yard on the driveway takes the lot in one go.
Landscape and tree jobs are the planned version — beds, shrubs and hedges out, a tree trimmed or removed, mulch replaced, a property readied for sale or a rental turnover, a fence or deck replaced alongside. Landscapers and property managers book scheduled pickups, and for mixed jobs we can set separate containers for the green waste and everything else.
Soil, stumps and the weight line
Branches, brush and hedge trimmings are light. Soil, wet leaves, stumps and roots are not. A 20 of brush is nowhere near its weight allowance; a 20 heaped with dirt is well over it. Tell us the mix and we will size it — usually a 15 or 20 for the green waste and, if there is a lot of soil, a 10 loaded level alongside. Soil counts as clean fill under Missouri law, not yard waste, so it travels separately anyway.

Yard waste — the local specifics
Every town runs its own yard program, and none of them is built for a whole yard at once. Springfield: the Yardwaste Recycling Center at 3790 S Farm Road 119 in Brookline takes grass, leaves and garden vegetation free, and brush for $11 to $38 a load by vehicle size, or $7 a cubic yard for large volumes, Tuesday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Republic: a City brush and yard waste site at 915 North West Ave, open monthly, for residents only — no commercial haulers, landscapers or tree services. Nixa: yard waste at the Nixa Recycle Center only from users of the City's collection system, and no commercial use. Ozark: brush bundles under 4 inches across, 48 inches long and 75 pounds, out on collection day only. Bolivar: City brush sites closed to contractors and hired haulers. A container is for the pile that is bigger, heavier or sooner than that. The fall yard waste cleanup guide explains why green waste has to stay out of a mixed load and where it goes instead.

Answers
Yard Waste Dumpster Rental — your questions answered
Do I need to bag or bundle the brush?
No. Throw it in as it comes — no bagging, no bundling. The only things that matter are staying level with the top edge and keeping household trash out of it.
Can I put dirt in a yard waste dumpster?
Yes, in its own 10 yard loaded level. Soil is heavy, and a bigger box heaped with it is more than the truck can safely lift. It is clean fill, not yard waste, so tell us it is part of the job when you book and we will plan the loads.
Can I put a whole tree in?
Cut to fit, yes — branches, logs and small stumps are fine. Keep everything level with the top edge. Big stumps and root balls are heavy, so tell us about them.
How fast after a storm can you deliver?
Call before noon the morning after and we can often have a container on the driveway the same day or next day. In a big storm week we tell you honestly where you are in the queue.
Do you compost or recycle green waste?
Clean green loads go to composting — Missouri has banned yard waste from landfills since 1992. Treated lumber, plastic or household trash in the box spoils that.
